This new moon has the added magick of accompanying the Equinox like a devoted servant. As a globe, we experience Equinox on March 20/21, the midway point between summer and winter ❄️☀️. It indicates a moment of stillness before the Earth shifts directions. With the southern and northern hemispheres holding the balance for each other – worldwide days and nights are of equal length, balancing light and dark, summer and winter, night and day. This is the day when the polarities are in harmony.
For us in the southern hemisphere, it’s a moment before the tipping into the dive of winter – time to prepare to strip back the busyness, reflect, release, and hibernate, exploring who we want to become (looking inward). For those in the Northern, it’s the shaking off of the reclusive period, stepping up for a shimmy and shaking like an animal waking from a deep slumber to prepare for the activities of Summer in the shiny new version of yourself (looking outward).
The Equinox is a time to call all parts of yourself back to centre in the wholeness of who you are, so you remember to show up in your complete uniqueness regardless of who is in your company. You may have heard the saying when in relationship, of having a ‘permeable membrane’ – this is where you take on the qualities of your partner. It’s like immersing in their energy field starts to bring you amnesia – you forget who you are as you take on the actions, tastes and even how you speak and think to those with who you spend time with.
So let the equalities of the Equinox help you find your balanced centre again. The marriage of the other in equal communion – no either/or, no dominant or lesser.
Happy Equinox!
